Blog #4 When Youth Sports Make Headlines: A Michigan Referee Case and the Power of Social Media

In a recent article by ClickOnDetroit, it was reported that a Michigan high school referee is now facing criminal charges after an arrest that garnered very little attention at first. As the story began to spread on social media, it quickly began to spark conversations about safety, accountability, and the role of adults in youth sports. This case represents a serious cultural issue: youth sports are intended to be safe and nurturing environments for students. The fact that someone in a position of power is charged with a crime indicates serious concerns about screening and supervision. Social media is a serious part of this, as it not only distributes information but also builds public awareness. As readers, we have a responsibility to stay informed and engage thoughtfully. Take a moment to read the full story, reflect on how schools ensure student safety, and consider starting conversations in your own community about accountability in youth programs. Blog Post #3: When Online Rumors Become Real Life

Blog Post #3: When Online Rumors Become Real Life A recent ClickOnDetroit article describes how a Macomb County teen’s life was turned upside down after a stranger allegedly impersonated him online and spread harmful rumors. This story highlights how damaging online misinformation and impersonation can be, especially for teens who rely heavily on social media for connection and identity. This story hits close to home for me because Romeo is only about a 30-minute drive away , and it’s unsettling to realize how easily something like this can happen so close to where we live. It shows that these situations aren’t rare or distant—they can happen when and where we least expect them. This case is an important reminder that online actions have real consequences and that digital responsibility and awareness are more important than ever. Social Media Sharing I chose to share this article on Instagram because it is heavily used by teens and young adults—the group most affected by o...

Senior Trip 2023: Making Memories in Hawaii

Spring break 2023 was unforgettable—our senior trip to Hawaii was everything we dreamed of and more! From the moment we landed, the warm tropical air and the vibrant scenery made us feel like we’d stepped into paradise. Our days were packed with adventures. We snorkeled in crystal-clear waters, spotting colorful fish and even sea turtles. We hiked through lush trails, chased waterfalls, and captured every breathtaking view in photos we’ll treasure forever. Evenings were spent relaxing on the beach, watching the sun set over the Pacific, and sharing laughs that will stick with us long after graduation. It wasn’t just the sights that made this trip special—it was the moments we shared as a group. From trying Hawaiian cuisine to attempting surfing lessons (lots of tumbles and laughter!), every experience brought us closer together. My favorite memory? Seeing my family swim with sea turtles for the 1st time. Hawaii 2023 reminded us that the best part of any trip is the people you’re with...

I have a lot going on in my life right now. I’m juggling seven jobs, preparing for a new season with the dance team, building new friendships, maintaining existing ones, and also showing up fully in my relationship with boyfriend. It can all feel overwhelming and stressful at times. The advice I want to share from this experience is that it’s okay to acknowledge when you’re stretched thin. You don’t have to do everything perfectly or all at once. Prioritizing what truly needs your energy, giving yourself grace, and allowing space to rest are just as important as staying productive. Learning to communicate when you need support and setting boundaries has helped me manage everything without burning out.

Here, I’ll share advice, tips on saving money, and ways to survive the chaos of a hectic life—because even when things feel overwhelming, it will all be worth it in the end.
